One of the problems right now online is disinformation and misinformation. A lot believes what they see or read in the net are true and when they thought those are real, they even shared it again for their followers to see. A multiplier effect.<\/p>\n

In this light, major Philippine media organizations, academic institutions, and social media platforms convened on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024,\u00a0\u00a0to sign a pledge and affirm their commitment to fighting fake news and disinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Commission on Elections Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia<\/strong>,\u00a0together with the industry leaders joined forces and pledged to uphold a shared responsibility and commitment to combatting fake news and disinformation, standing united in the fight against disinformation.<\/p>\n

GMA Network lead the call with Comelec<\/strong>\u00a0and more than 50 companies and organizations attended the ceremony. Commission on Elections (COMELEC), convened in a landmark event to form the largest partnership in the fight against disinformation from media to academes.<\/p>\n
