One of the problems right now online is disinformation and misinformation. A lot believes what they see or read in the net are true and when they thought those are real, they even shared it again for their followers to see. A multiplier effect.
In this light, major Philippine media organizations, academic institutions, and social media platforms convened on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024,  to sign a pledge and affirm their commitment to fighting fake news and disinformation.

Commission on Elections Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia, together with the industry leaders joined forces and pledged to uphold a shared responsibility and commitment to combatting fake news and disinformation, standing united in the fight against disinformation.
GMA Network lead the call with Comelec and more than 50 companies and organizations attended the ceremony. Commission on Elections (COMELEC), convened in a landmark event to form the largest partnership in the fight against disinformation from media to academes.
Rising Tigers Magazine, the most-distributed leadership Magazine in the Philippines, available in all Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Lounges and in National Bookstore branches, is also in solidarity with this fight against fake news.
